Stereo cord jack?

My Spector has not been having perfect connection with in the jack. My jack seems to have three prongs in it like a fits better with a stereo chord better then a regular cord with a hot and grounded part. My questions is would an older Spector legend classic (3-5 years) have a stereo jack instead of a regular jack in it?

It is a stereo style jack because of the preamp. The third contact powers the pre. Both of those contacts need to be in contact with the sleeve of the mono jack in order for the pre to work and for you to have sound. If you used a stereo cord, you would not have any output. It is not uncommon for the input jack to fail. You probably just need a new jack.
