Stereo Talk

I started a thread on this a few months ago, entitled, "Stereo Talk."
There's a lot of good advice from members there, but a lot of it is me reporting on an integrated amp and speakers I had just bought.

If you're looking for a warm-sounding amp, the Cambridge AXA35 sounds great.
Only 35 watts, but it's very clean and goes pretty loud.

As for speakers, I originally bought a set of Klipsch bookshelf speakers for $289. They sounded so good for the price, two weeks later I bought a set of tower speakers, and they sound fantastic.

Here are the bookshelves sitting on the floor standers.

I'll look for the thread.

The harman kardon hk3390 is the perfect unit. It's great for audio. Its recent so no maintenance. It has a remote. It has a phono input as well as a video input. I use mine with my TV, cd player and record player as well as the FM tuner.
It's also got more than enough power to spare.

People are almost giving home audio away. I really like Harman Kardon. You can get a really good system for a couple hundred dollars.
If you don't want a bunch of speakers and wires, you could get a soundbar and subwoofer. they sound amazing.
I just sold my home theater stuff and got a Harman Kardon stereo receiver. I still use it for TV with the 2 stereo speakers and it sounds great. Plus, way better for music than AV stuff.
Its a 2000 model, and it even has a phono input.
I paid 140$ for it. HK3390.

This is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but I can't stand the sound of soundbars/subwoofers. There's no mids.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an affordable Bluetooth transmitter to use with an older receiver? I plug my phone/tablet into the AUX input when I want to stream, but I'd like to be able to use it wirelessly instead of walking over to the stereo every time I want to change something.

I'm no audiophile, but while I'm here, I'll go ahead and list my gear. Speakers are early 70s vintage Dynacos, turntable is an 80s era B&O, and my receiver is a Sony from the early 2000s. It's not the best receiver in the world, but it sounds fine for my purposes.

^ B&O turntable?
Bang & Olufsen?

I haven't heard that name in years.
Years ago, I was thinking of getting a B&O turntable, because of their reputaion.
In the end, I bought a Garrard DD75.
I think it was their first direct-drive turntable. I bought one as soon as they were available.
Garrard even sent me a letter thanking me for having faith in one of their brand new products.
It was cool.
Anyway, I can't help you with a Bluetooth transmitter, but hopefully someone else here can.

I highly recommend anyone here look at some of the Klipsch speakers on sale.
I've had mine since early April, and they pass the sound quality test.

Since this thread has been revived, I'm sure others will ask more questions.

Mike ;)

Yup, Bang & Olufsen. My dad had it and wasn’t using it, so he gave it to me along with the Dynaco speakers. He also had 2 extra NIB styluses for the turntable. That particular B&O stylus is apparently rare and very desirable. I sold one of them on EBay for $250 and kept the other one.
