Sterling Musicman Bass

I just came here to say Sterling may be the gold standard of Indonesian-made basses.

I bought one of the Musician's Friend Stupid Deal of the Day Sterling Ray 4 HH basses a few weeks back in transparent black.

I wasn't enthusiastic about the black color, when the blue one looked nicer -- but alas it was not on sale, just the black one.

I've grown to appreciate it - and the color - over the past few weeks, as it was under $300 and quite a good player.

What is this mod that turns the humbuckers into parallel? Are there directions online for it?

(I have a G&L L-2000 Tribute bass that has a switch that goes from parallel to series, but this sounds like it might work on the Sterling bass.)

I recently modified my SBMM Ray4 HH with series/parallel switches, and because there didn't seem to be any wiring charts for this model or this modification, I thought that I'd make some for the benefit of others who might want to do the same thing.

Here is the stock pickup wiring diagram for reference:

Mine's not a SB-14; but I'm sure confused what it is. I just go by what the invoice said, the CC ad, and the headstock (says "SUB Series) It has a 9V battery in in the compartment, and thenbass plays real well for me.

There is an SB-4 model that might be a Guitar Center exclusive that has the 2 band preamp from the Ray4. I have one, it's awesome!
