Steve Harris - bass rig / sound

but, if i saw 4basses in backstage:
1 olímpic white
2 other white but not white (xd) it's like a rey but un white(i'm spanish and i don't speak tour language well)
3 blue with thunders
4 red basa

I read an article (of course I can't remember which mag) where Steve's bass tech explained his setup.
If I remember correctly, the original blue P is now painted white. I believe it has the blue trim on it. It suffered some damage from Steve's sweat and started having rot issues.
I will find the magazine and post the facts.
I truly believe those flatwounds and Steve's fingers are 95% of his tone.

FOUND IT!
October/2012-Bass Guitar Magazine from the UK.
His tech Michael Kenny describes his entire rig. He said Steve's sweat was leaking under the pickguard and into the control cavity,shorting out the jack! He brought it to a luthier who cut out the sweat damaged wood and filled the stripped screw holes and re-drilled new ones. He also seals all electrical connections with clear nail polish (moisture).
The original is white with a West Ham sticker. The other white bass is a Custom shop-made copy(Also with the WH sticker). He also has a blue with crackle paint backup and drags one of his signature basses along too.
They are unsure of the date of his #1 but he thinks 1974. And it may have been made of big leaf maple,which is why it is so terribly heavy.
His rig is somewhat complicated but I am not going to list it now. Unless someone is interested.
All his basses have Badass bridges,SD pickups and are strung with his signature strings.
Cool article. If you dig Harris, it is worth a back issue purchase.

Gets my blood pumpin' just thinking about it. Loved jammin' Iron Maiden songs. I was never in a band with a singer who could come close to singing like Dickenson, though.
I know that steve harris original bass is blue but to practise before to play in concerts he uses this red bass (in a interview, he played a red bass )
I don't know much about (but sure am curious) the red bass. The original blue P is now white though.

I believe there is an entire sub forum for recordings where you might find threads like these.
As for his roto flats, if they are anything like what is sold in stores, they sound great for about two minutes to midnight, and then the tone runs for the hills, and they sound like a stranger in a strange land. I'll never try another set again.

Just do that detuning and slaping the strings technic to refresh strings in 2 minutes, I do it on the Rotosound 55 - 110 set for like 4 years now, I haven't changed them, and I refresh them when it sounds dead.
