I sent him a message through CL a couple weeks ago letting him know what this is and how much it is worth, just in case he was honestly ignorant. Assuming that anyone who meets this dude will be going home without wallet/cell phone/car.

Awesome eBay detective work, Chief! The feedback left for the person who won this auction shows that his user name is registered in Australia. Auction ended 8/5. Positive feedback left by buyer 8/13. CL ad posted 8/5. Hmmm...

If the person who posted the CL ad does have a bass for sale, it's probably a Squier.
