Steve Washington: Aurra and Slave

I don’t think Mark Adams played on Aurra albums, but I have no inside information.

The only Aurra tracks that Mark Adams played on was " When I Come Home " & " Who Are You "

Now this sounded more like Mark Adams, but I think Washington may be using a pick.

The only bass tracks that Steve used a pick on was " Send Your Love " & " Such A Feeling " (Aurra)

This is one I had not heard before. The slap part on this one has some definite Mark Adams influence.

Steve Washington started the Slave/ Aurra slap style of playing bass playing. If you listen to " Slide " and " You & Me " from the first Slave album ... those bass parts were not slap bass parts. Mark Adams idolized Verdine White from EWF and you can hear the influence on " Slide " & You & Me " Steve showed Adams the slap & pulling octaves style of bass playing and Adams took it to the next level on the " Just A Touch " album and beyond !
