I actually have both an Ibanez SR and a Schecter Stilleto. The Ibanez in my opinion is a more versitial bass. The Schecter is better for rock and metal styles of playing. You could always upgrade the SR to get a different tone. Many people have no problems with the Bartolini MK1 pickups, but the MK1 EQ is far from the best. I have another Ibanez with the same MK1 pups but Ibanez Vari-mid-III EQ and like it much more. I hope this helps.
Can be done with any bass. Most local shops can do it or point you in the direction of somewhere that can.
I don't think you'll regret the Ibanez. They make good quality basses, and very good value for the price.
What specifically is causing you doubt? What is the one thing that's making you question it?
I think both options are valid and you played both and went with the one you liked better so I absolutely think you made the right choice, unless there's an obvious flaw that we haven't heard about yet.
Chances are, you're just wondering "What if...?" but you shouldn't wonder about that. Unless there's something wrong with the Ibanez, enjoy it and play it as much as you can and you'll love it more as you go.
I really dig the Stiletto 4. It's one that I always admired for the price. For some reason the 5-string didn't do it for me as much.

I don't see many people complaining about their build quality and playability. The most common complaint I see about them is their tone.
The MK-1 electronics and to a lesser degree pickups are the weakest link in them. I haven't gotten around to swapping out the pickups yet, but I did swap the preamp in my SR535 with an NTMB and it made a world of difference. The bass sounds nothing like it used to.

Nothing lasts forever, and certainly not first basses. Assuming of course that you continue playing which I'll assume. At your price point, did you consider the Sterling By Music Man basses? Either way, the Ibanez is a fine bass, but you'll eventually outgrow it as well.
Nope, 4's also. If you like a thinner profile neck, this is a nice bass.

Good score and IMO, a better score than the Ibanez or Schecter.

Have owned two Rays in the past and stupidly sold both. I now have my eye on one. Great choice.
