I am actually making progress. I was trying to play this slow and nail it, but some stuff is halfway memorized, and lift my head to read, I lose my place at times. I am really taking my teacher's instruction to play the high D octave with an open D. I am much faster right now with a closed D, but as my teacher notes, used all closed notes will slow down as a I try to work up to full tempo. I get frustrated, but I am making it a point to not quit learning this composition. Like the old song by Kleeer goes, "winners never quite, quitters never win."
