It's another AI piece, but it still interesting.
I'm surprised he didn't mention any reggae bassists. Then again, he was likely influenced more by the general sound of the reggae around him than by specific players (it's also possible he just wouldn't have known who was playing on those reggae recordings).
He probably mentioned Reggae bassists. I'm sure this video was put together by an AI analysis of Sting interviews along with some algorithm of influential bassists.

This video does come off as rather calculated, and perhaps AI based.
Lemmy Kilmister is one that gets the list to 5. Charles Mingus makes the list grow to 6.
I knew he appreciated my sloppy and lazy basslines
I though he was going to say himself as his favourite player.

Like an honest bass player would. Not the best bass player, or even a competent one, I listen most to my own hacky junk, so it's my favorite.

Sting was an extremely good and innovative bassist with the Police. Once he went solo, it completely stopped, based on what I've heard and I've never understood why.
Can someone just list the names, please, so we don't have to click on the video. Which, from reading the comments, I gather is fake anyway?

- When people called Police music "reggae" in the eighties I scoffed. It tracks that he apparently has no regard for Robbie Shakespeare or Aston Barrett. Police grooves feel rushed, stiff and stilted, kind of like when Clapton covered I shot the sheriff. Gotta learn to relax, loosen up and swing a little, boys.
- makes sense he'd call out Pastorius and McCartney, pleasant surprise to have Lynott on there, but I don't get Jack Bruce.
- I really dislike AI generated stuff
