Sting playing a Modulus

I have an old Bass Player magazine with an article on Sting during the Soul Cages era.

His main bass for the tour was his old Fender Jazz and a black Ibanez fretless for some songs.

It listed/showed a Fender Precision with a Modulus neck for a backup bass, so I assume this is the same instrument.

I saw him playing the same Fender Precision during the 10 Summoner's Tales tour.

Since then, he seems to stick with his 1951 Fender Precision.

Yep, I really liked that bass and tone for that tour......snappy and sorta "metallic" from that graphite neck. I tried to replicate his set-up with a Moses graphite neck on a sunburst P bass and never really liked the feel of the cold neck and sorta "sterile" tone. Besides finding the 51 P bass and loving it for the old mojo from all the years of being played, maybe that's why he stopped using it.

As far as I can tell, Modulus is no longer selling replacement necks, and even if they were, it's been a very long time since they sold the necks with the Fender-style headstock and no truss rod.

only thing you can do is scour the interwebs and hope something pops up for sale:

someone local to me had a modulus neck married to a warmoth body. necks are available used but, in this case, patience is a virtue. good luck.
