Stingray custom colours

Hi.... I have this 1994 Stingray that im starting to wonder if its a refin or not. Can anyone confirm this for me or refer me to a helpful resource.... Its a sort of burgundy clear where you see and feel to surface of the wood. I was told it was a custom colour at Musicman for that year but im not 100% sure..

It just looks like trans red there, but it’s kind of hard to tell with the greenish lighting on the bass.

No limited color runs in those days that I'd ever heard of....especially thin skin finishes.

Trans Red were available at this time. But they had alder bodies and a high gloss finish.
Yours looks like stained ash. No limited runs - like Caca say contact them here:

This photo is of the spec sheet with my 93 Fretless Stingray (which I bought used). You can clearly see there were three 'premium' colours. They're extremely rare and seem to have required a special order (unless a dealer ordered one for stock) - some people called them custom colours - an earlier one (thought to have been replaced by butterscotch) is peach - as per Tony Levin's SR5. Again extremely rare.

Yours is trans red but as stated by the guys, this was usually done over alder (though it's never quoted as exclusively as such). In the neck pocket and the pick up rout should be stamped the colour (or an abbreviation of it).
