stingray graphite neck!

not sure if this goes into this section or not can a mod please move if needs be..
i have a fretless mm stingray that really does not get much use these days i just wanted to know has anyone tried a status graphite neck???
would prefare people that actually tried it before give an honest point of view good and bad...have seen them on a few stingrays in the past but never gave it much thought..

I've got one on my Precision, and from that I can tell you it's the fastest neck I've ever played, great intonation, rarely needs an adjustment, but is also the brightest bass neck you'll ever play. Very, uh, bright. Something to think about.

This upgrade is the single best thing you could do to make your Ray a really special bass.

I have two Jazz basses with Status necks - fretted and fretless. Far and away the best two basses I have and would be the last to go if I had to sell any of my collection. They're not really "bright" in tone, they just let the full harmonic content of the string come through with absolutely no dead spots anywhere on the neck.

Pino Palladino had a fretless Status neck on his Stingray when he was playing with Paul Young back in the 80s. Superb tone. I'd get one for my Stingray tomorrow if I was looking to upgrade it (I don't use the Ray much, it flatters to deceive imo and it's nowhere near my graphite Js as a quality instrument).

Hey Ridge'.
Unreservedly, go for it! Bought a 'ray about 5 years back, same situation. Swapped out the pup for a Delano and the neck for a Status. Slim, bright, mega-fast...can't say enough good things about it. Really, the contour and feel are so much more playable (my opinion, but backed up by every other lowender who's picked it up). Oh yeah, and for what it's worth~ the Status weave looks killer on the red body of my beastie.
By the way, if you buy one and don't dig it, pm me & I'll take it off your hands for the price you pay, no worries!!

Hmmm...

I've toyed with the idea of putting one on my Lakland 55-02. So I'd be interested to hear what others think of them.

Does anyone know about weight issues? Does it increase the bass's weight significantly? Does it cause lots of neck dive?

I got a knockoff of a 5er Stingray coming soon, and the idea of popping a fretless Status neck weighs heavy on my mind, and this only furthers my GAS......

I definatly would like to try a fretted one on a Fender/ish bass sometime too.

excellent stuff lads..exactly what i was looking for...its a fretted neck that i will be putting on when i get around to getting it..my stingray is very bright as it is (2band) its got a few dings on it but its sweet,its been well used and the fretless neck is still almost perfect given i have only ever used .45 stainless roundwounds..as i dont gig anymore it just hangs on the wall.(not used it more than2/3 times in the last few years)new fretted neck just will get be back to basics on a 4 string..the more you learn the more of the simple stuff you forget,,,....
@bbocaner that pj looks stunning....bet it sounds as good as it looks?
