Stingray HH: anyone changed pups?

Hi folks,

I've got a Stingray HH that I'm really enjoying.
I've recently picked up a Nordstrand MM4.2 in a trade and would like to give it a whirl in the bass.

I was wondering if anyone has changed out the stock pickups in an HH to the Nordstrand pups? If so, what's the difference you've heard?

Before anyone gets up in arms, I enjoy the tone of the 'Ray stock pups, just interested in the vibe I can get from the nordie. If it gets me closer to the Pre EB thing that can only be a good thing in my book.

I'm particularly interested as to whether the usual style pickup can just drop in to the slot of the HH humbucker; the newer humbuckers in the HH models have the sloping sides instead of the two rounded bits of ones side and one on the other. I'm not worried about the pickguard fitting it perfect, just that it will fit in.

All right, for others out there, it fits perfectly but there's a gap between the mounting screws.

Also, Nordstrand + John East as a replacement is the biz to get that old school Ray tone.
