It's my favorite Stingray so far, but haven't yet tried the HS version. I particularly like positions 2 and 4, one single coil from each pickup. I don't slap, so the extra pickup at the neck does not bother me.

I will say, tho, I'm not a fan of the H Stringray. It works sometimes, but I need my neck pickup for full versatility. Then again, if you have 5 other basses, might as well have the classic Stingray H (which does look the best of all).

I do flirt with slapping and can get away with it on my HH. It is possible. However, if slap is primarily your style, or even 50/50, I would say single H all the way. You have the wide open space.

I will say, though, I've gotten some great slap tones from pickup positions 2 and 4 on my HH.

Sure it's just a Sterling but I am a believer and I couldnt leave her if I tried

I tried playing the SBMM HH for a while in my classic rock/ southern rock band but I only found a couple of the tones workable. The clincher for me was neck pickup got in the way of my fingers doing finger style or trying to pop during slapping sessions. I just couldn't get comfortable with it so off it went.

Also, I don't understand how people can claim there is a difference in sound between a H and an HH with the bridge pup soloed. The pups are in the EXACT same location on both basses. Both basses are identical except for one having an additional pup and 5 way switch.

I think it's hangover from the Sabre : people are seeing two pickups, and making uninformed assumptions???
