Stingray Preamp Details

I am thinking about gutting the preamp in my G&L L2K and replacing it with something that has treble boost more like a Stingray. I was planning to make a simple circuit myself.

Does anyone know the details of the treble boost circuit in a Stingray as used on a 2 band. My gut tells me that it probably has a 4kHz shelving treble circuit, but I am not sure how steep to make the filter (6, 12, or 18dB per octave). I have a feeling that on a two band EQ that 6 dB per decade would probably be sufficient. And if the first preamps were from the 70's, I would bet they are 6 dB per octave.

I dont know about 2 band stringrays but heres something about 3 band ones from the ernie ball website.

Q: What is the frequency range of the 3 band EQ?

A: Our 3 band basses use a standard baxandall circuit centered appx. 500hz. Frequency slope is 6 db per octave. With bass control in max position, max output will occur at 40hz and drop at 6db per octave above 40hz. Maximum treble response drops at 6 db per octave at frequencies below appx.12 khz. Mid range is centered appx.500 hz. Control settings are interactive, therefore 6 db per octave slope only occurs when one control is in maximum position and the two remaining controls are set to minimum.
