Stingray Special tuners on Classic ?

Couldn't find a thread on this but...
Does anyone have any experience changing the tuners on a classic Stingray ? I recently bought a (used) Stingray Classic, love the sound but I'm not to crazy 'bout the neckdive. Saw an interview where Sterling Ball (I think) stated that the difference with the new tuners was over 300 grams.
