Stingray to Schecter. Talk me out of it?

Rays are very cool basses; I've played a few, although never at a gig.

However, I've never had a problem with either of my two Schecters, and they sit much more politely in a mix than my sledgehammer-punch P-bass. They don't record as well for what I'm playing now, but live they can't be beat, especially as the 2-band (or 3-band) EQs are powerful and useful.

Light weight, great sounds, good playability, excellent necks, and cheap enough that you can gig them without worrying about beating them up a bit.

I have a stingray. Single H. And a friend has a Schecter Stilleto. Very nice. Great sound, action, neck, and finish. I've been jamming around on a 004 Schecter at GC, and I really like it. I get a tone i like more htan my ray. The thing is it took me 5 months to pay of the MM and i'm worried that i wouldnt be as happy if i got a 004. And had lost the ray. Then i wouldnt have anything to do. On the plus side. I do love to tone, and I could get a lot of cash as a trade in...

Advice?!

I play a Schecter Stiletto Custom 4, with a few Mods. I have played a ray, and did like it, but found molding sound to be much easier with the Schecter. Really, you just need to know what you want to come out of your rig, what kind of setup you like, and so forth. I have had my Stiletto for three years and have had no issues at all. The wood and finish are quality, and although its made in Vietnam VS Cali the workmanship is fine in my eyes. All that said, you can see from the posts you cant really go wrong with either so long as you go new. I would sway you away from a used Schecter, as the price point is lower and beckons the inexperienced player (meaning they don't really know how to care for a bass, and you may get a lemon). If your gonna trade your baby, you better really be happy.
