Stingray vs. Sterling

I have bought recently a Sterling, so now I own both a Sterling and a Stingray.
I'm A-B ing them but I've been surprised by the fact that apart from neck width at nut, the stingray neck is way much thinner than sterling's while I have been told it was the exact opposite. Any hint anyone ?
Thank you!

Can anyone explain to me the S.L.O. Special?? I know that its a Sterling neck on a Stingray body, but I didn't previously realize that the Sterling has an extra fret... Is the Sterling neck adjusted for the Stingray body on the S.L.O. Special or is the Stingray body modified??? I ask, because I read in the MTD forum that a simple neck swap from a 21 to a 24 fret neck doesn't work (in the MTD realm) is it the same here as well??? Or the other entirely plausible explanation, What am I missing? Not trying to derail, it seems kinda relevant...

The SLO StingRay has the neck dimensions of the Sterling. The rest including number of frets, headstock, is StingRay style.

I've got one and it plays great. I think I like the sound of it a little better than my Sterling.

Thanks guys. It sounds like I can't go wrong with either of them. I just want to make sure that I'll get the classic MM sound. I liked the Sterling as far as playablity more than the StingRay but I've always dug that StingRay tone. Now comes the procuring of the funds for purchase. :bassist::cool:

I just posted a thread the other day on the SBMM Ray 34. If you're considering going the MM route, check them out. They also offer the SB14(which is the Sterling). They're about half the price of an EBMM, and are not just another "let's do a budget-version" bass. That unmistakeable MM sound is there in spades, no cheap woods used, great electronics and hardware, craftsmanship is excellent, and they're inspected and set up in the USA factory.
