Back in July of 2010 I posted on TalkBass that my brand new custom Performance YB6 Bass had been stolen.

Well yesterday morning I found this email waiting for me.
Mr. Pruitt,
"Good news! Over 2-yrs later your bass returns!! Yay! I have it in hand right now. Please call me in the morning. I am NOT THE THIEF!! Please don't call angry. I am simply the recover guy. I buy tons and tons of gear from pawn shops in Washington. This was purchased by me today. It was so custom that I thought that I should do some research to make sure it wasn't stolen. I found your post on Talk Bass.
There is a legal process you must go through to recover the bass, plus I need to return to the shop to make sure to get my money back, but I can explain all of this tomorrow. This isn't the first time I have helped someone recover their merchandise. I know the process."
After meeting the buyer at the Pawn Shop where he bought it. I got to see my Baby again and she is in Perfect Condition! Not a scratch not a ding! I thought for sure the next time I would see it, it would be more like firewood.
Because it was my entire car that was stolen with all my gear in it. The Police have to hold the bass as evidence for a few days while they check out the information on the person who pawned the bass to see if they had anything to do with the theft at all. At this point it's all good I know where she is and I know she'll be coming home soon.
Always keep your head up!
