Stomp box curiosity

Does anyone use any type of distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedals with their rig? I've always used either my trusty original ProCo Rat (with the LM308 IC chip) or a Boss Overdrive (the orange one) but I'm curious to see what others are using for a little extra OOOMPH!

*Please keep in mind when responding that we all don't play the same type of music. I'm not asking people if they've NEVER used these effects!

You're new in these parts? This is a subject that has been covered about as extensively as any other subject on this whole entire forum. Try using the search function at the top of the page.

Good luck and welcome to TalkBass.

I have used a Danelectro Daddy-O(liked it except for the plastic jacks which became glitchy). Even better was a Guyatone Flip Series tube bass driver. I now play through an all-tube amp, IMO the best distortion pedal.

Edit: Filling in your public profile will help us get a feel for the kind of sound(s)you like, which can help you get useful advice on gear. Otherwise you'll get a whole lot of 'my favorite' vs 'your favorite' which may have little to do w/what you like.

I'd venture to guess that nearly everyone who has visited this forum more than once uses or has used some sort of od/dist/fuzz. It's one of the most popular variety of effects in the world.

Not trying to be a snob about it, just saying "does anyone use? Hells yes we all do!"

I don't know, man...I've talked to quite a few people in my time who have had the "Now why on earth would you do that?" response when the find out I'm tuned to B and using a Rat. :D

I have a $15 Danelectro Fab Metal stompbox. The blue LED doesn't work anymore, but it doesn't sound that bad, especially for the price. I don't use it much, but I had an extra spot on my board and it was just sitting there, so I added it in, and VOILA! Its surprisingly good for the price, sounds kinda fuzzy, in a good way.
