Thom, You're a genius. Or should I say, Steve Albini is genius. Thank you so much for recommending that. Obviously I can't try it fully, but even just holding the strap and upper horn together with my hand, it relieves so much tension I was feeling the standard way.

Joe- Ernie ball makes the longest straps to my knowledge.

Thing is the repair shop is like a 30 min drive one way and I gotta go pick up my other two basses tomorrow. There's definitely something funky going on. I'll probably just take it over and see what they say.

I have a slightly different issue, maybe one you guys can help.

My Matamp usually resides at our jam space, but i brought it home after our show last week and I plugged it into my 2x10. For some reason this amp picks up a ton of radio waves here. I tried different basses and cables and no change. even with nothing plugged into the input of the amp it still picks up a lot of radio. None of my other amps do that. Is this something caused by bad tubes or is it poor design?

It could be something as simple as getting a new tube or getting a RF tube shield. I found this link with lots of info on a similar issue. I don't consider myself "smart" on this issue.

Is my tube amp picking up radio signals?
Different application, but same principles apply.

Musicol Recording, we weren't happy with the first batch they sent, about 50% of them were too noisy. They were very good though and repressed. The second batch sounded awesome, probably better than a lot of records I own.

Just echoing this. I'm 6'5", so when I was looking for a long strap for a low slung guitar in the early '00s, I picked up a really long gray Ernie Ball strap that I still use (albeit shortened way up).

I wasn't able to find any straps longer than the Ernie Balls.

Cool. Now if I can just compromise my ethics...stupid leather-ended straps.

Man I'm excited! I found an EBS Fafner for sale used at a guitar store in Boston. Hoping trade my Eden preamp (plus cash) for it. I love the Eden but Fafners are amazing amps and really really hard to find on this side of the Atlantic.

Get'em get'em straps are also really long. Longer than the Ernie Ball straps. They seem to be a wide variety of materials if I remember correctly.

If the leather is a concern, maybe you'd be best off making your own strap out of an old seatbelt or something.

I found some Planet Waves with the plastic locking ends. Doesn't list a length though. Guess I am going to take my bass up to the music shop and see which straps will go around my fat gut.

I still might get a new bass, but now I'm not restricted to a certain weight.

I am also going to email couch straps. see if they will do a one off for me.

The planet waves straps with the locking ends are really short. Or at least they were a couple years back. I'm 6 foot and rather large and they were unusable for me without the guitar at my neck hah.

Finally got around to listening to Red Fang. HOLY CRAP!!!! My mind is offically blown. And the videos are hilarious. How nice to find a band that's both somewhat local and is still together.
