Listened to the latest Kadavar on my way to work this morning for the first time in awhile. I'm not sure I even gave it justice putting it at #5 on my best of 2013 list. Album is so damn good. I think they do the 70s retro rock thing better than any other band, including Graveyard.

The Mesa 400+ is just meh?

No matter how you slice it, it is a 300 watt amp. More cabs will make it loud, but it is under specced on its transformer, and doesnt throw out as much low end as I want.

One of my old bands had multiple mics that would shock us. My rig back then was an old Ampeg B25B into an Ampeg 412. That thing shocked me, too! We were in a basement and even had puddled water on occasion. I thought for certain we'd be goners!

The thread is slower lately. I can't speak for everyone else but s*** has been crazy. Christmas, family drama, car engines dying... Yesterday my grandfather passed away. I long for the days of idle time and killing it on talkbass.

I actually liked my Mesa 400+ when I had it, it was my first tube amp.

The only problem I ever had with it was blowing fuses from time to time, other than that it worked well for me for a couple years before I sold it to get the electric USA rebuilt Orange AD200.

I was originally playing it through a couple of hughes and kettner 4x10's and really liked it. I've thought about tracking down a 400 (non-plus) to have, but I don't really need it, so I haven't.
