Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 27:DI's and Micro Amps

I gave away my broken Sunn Concert Bass to someone on another forum, to try to fix up. Not for me, just as an amp tech learning project, they paid for shipping. The preamp still worked, but the power section was blown. I really heavily considered paying someone to turn the preamp board into a pedal for me. I really like the tone of that amp, but it wasn't quite loud enough. Then it blew up. Then I replaced it with a Coliseum, which was a little louder but still not quite there. Then that blew up. My Beta Bass is still kicking, but still not QUITE loud enough. It was almost loud enough all the way up, but there's too much gain in the power amp, it got too mushy at a loud volume. I thought about plugging the preamp out into the FX loop in on my MB800 to see how it would sound with the gain lower and the volume way up. Haven't had a chance yet.

I'm curious to find out how that Concert Lead based preamp works out for you man. Assuming it didn't burst in the colon of some Russian mule mid flight or something.

I'm a trained/certified tech writer, cool job. About 30-40% of my time at the current job is spent doing that kind of stuff. Other time is spent meeting with vendor reps, product demos, random meetings, shopping prices online, forecasting, ordering stock and spreadsheets, spreadsheets, spreadsheets. I like this job, I work for a pretty large AV/Audio/Lighting/MI dealer and I'm the specialist for Pro Audio so I spend all day looking at/talking about/learning about gear. Not too bad.

I need to finish my degree. **** me.

Hurry up and make it and I'll buy it!

...minus my royalties for IP of course. I posted it online, that's copyrighted! TM InnernetLawEssperts, Inc. LLC, a TROLLCorp subsidiary, all rights reserved under penalty of gettin fought IRL by innernet tuffguys.

Technical writing would be a dream job of mine.

Explosions are the one thing I'm worried about. It sounded great, but there are just a couple of stories here and there about them going south. I'm definitely getting something with a warranty.

Tech writing is a pretty cool job, if you're into language and technical stuff. I've been spending the past few days doing web development to improve our content, getting all fancy with the ajax and whatnot.

There's going to be a huge market for people who can create compelling content going forward. The internet is just this massive cup that needs to be filled up, and company's want it to be full of their product.

I have to say, I'm a little jealous of The_Janitor. MI/audio gear is a little cooler than my area of expertise (screen recording software).

The MI guy sits next to me. But, Pro Audio is a pretty huge and interesting category.
