I've bought and sold 4 different fuzz/drive pedals to unseat my Grey Stache from its mighty throne. The last one was the Bluebeard, I figured if anything could do it, it'd be the BB. While the BB was good, it wasn't as good... and I accept that as a final victory for the Grey Stache and haven't GASed for another primary dirt since. Of course, YMMV and all that jazz.

From the perspective of the Stoner/DOOM room, it seems everyone pretty much has their go-to fuzz on lockdown, be it a Bluebeard, Rat Tail, etc. I think thats why the idea of over the top whacky effects are more boner-inducing.

Yeah I think for any of the crazy ideas to be useful, you'd have to be able to set the effect up digitally with multiple presets. Everyone wants cool boutique analog effects but who wants to be turning knobs on your pedal board during a set? Most players I've played with or seen perform have their gear set one way and never change it. That's why I was a fan of multi effects for years but now I want more expression to my sound. Something like the vt bass deluxe has with multiple digital presets and foot switches would be good... but now we're talking more money and design time which makes them unfeasable.

My guitarist has one of those and it didn't seem very intuitive. He gave up after awhile and went back to his Boss delay, but he is not one for tweaking so it might have just been him.

It seemed like there was some reason why it was more difficult to set the delay time than simply tapping the external pedal with the Boss. Plus it seems sort of excessive unless you are playing a lot of stuff that calls for completely different sorts of delays.
