Aha! I was just in Seattle last weekend but missed my usual trip to the Bass Shop. Thanks for the tip!
I bought my Dingwall at BassNW a couple months before they shut down and The Bass Shop honored their "free setups" policy last time I was in town with the bass. Really good folks.
Bass Shop, Seattle. (I havent been to this one, but the owner used to run a store called Bass NW which was incredible. I think the store just got reengineered and moved across town.)

Although Mike and Mike's Guitar Bar in Seattle (Fremont neighborhood) has a lot of really nice basses in their inventory as well.

I was recently able to visit Carter's Vintage Guitars in Nashville. I thought they had a pretty good selection.
Been there a few times when I lived in N.VA, bought a few cabs and amps. The owner Jong is a really cool dude, easy to work with., decent prices from what I recall. Online inventory might not be up to date but highly recommended.
Nashville seems to be a great town to do a store crawl in. Each shop has a nice set of instruments and some diversity going from one to the next, and they're pretty close to each other.
Carter's is where Garry Tallent's Roscoe fretless is sitting. Someone loan me a few Gs and it can sit on my stand where it should be.
I believe Planet bass is still open. I bought a pickup there last year. I think the shop is by appointment only, so you'll have to call ahead.
I've had great dealings with Rocket music who is a member here, I bought a nice Lull p/j five from him.
Is that new? I left Seattle in 2017. Honestly I play much more bass now than I did when I lived in Seattle. I did buy a DB from trading musician, and an ABG from GC Portland though

It's like you're trying out all these killer basses in your living room - pretty cool.
Greg is a great guy and easy to deal with. I have not bought any basses there but did buy two cabs and those were excellent experiences. Then a couple years back I was trying to sell a Berg cab when Greg had a customer come in who loved that cab but could not quite swing it new. Greg had seen my used cab on TB so he told the customer about it and the customer joined TB and came and bought my cab.
+1 at least for being a legitimate seller to buy from. I never visited the shop but bought a Lakland Skyline DJ4 from Brian/The Low End and everything went great.
Now I wonder if that's an invitation for a car to go careening into that wall, right at the point where the headstock meets the neck.

While not as extensive or specialized as some of the options mentioned elsewhere in the tread, Atlanta does have a big airport that brings a lot of people to town (sometimes, whether they want to be here or not
).If anyone's looking form something other than Guitar Center around ATL, here are a few options:
Maple Street Guitars in the "Buckhead" (uptown) part of Atlanta proper. Relatively small shop, but high quality selection, and a luthier/repair department that keeps a good eye on things. Good website, with detailed listings, descriptions, and photos of what's on offer.
Link Removed: A metro-Atlanta area group of stores, founded in the northwestern suburb of Marietta. Their Marietta location is still their main hub, with a large guitar/bass/acoustic department. If you call or go by there, ask for Billy. He's the guitar dept. manager, a good player, and good guy.
Atlanta Discount Music: Old-school independent store, small but funky, notable for being an official Rickenbacker dealer.

I'm bummed because I was out in Roseville an hour ago and could have stopped in. I didn't know this place existed because it has almost zero Google presence. It doesn't come up if you search instrument/music stores, and on Google Maps it just gives you a general area instead of an exact address.
Even on the website, the address is kind of buried. I will definitely check it out the next time I'm out there.
It was many years ago that I visited Bass & Beyond. At that time, they were located in Rancho Cordova. I noticed that their website now shows a Roseville address. I didn't know that they had relocated to Roseville!
I've been to Bass Central twice and had bad experiences both times, and both times, with the same guy. Lots of fancy woods on the wall but they won't get my money. To give an example, I asked what they has in acoustic strings. He asked what bass I had. I told him Ibanez ABG10. He said he didn't know what strings go with "those cheap basses."
I may call before I go to make sure they're open. The website showed some really nice stuff. Nothing I can afford, mind you.
