Double Bass "straight ahead" recordings using EUB's

Hey y'all! So, i was wondering if any of you guys could steer me towards any recordings of "straight ahead" jazz where the bassist used an EUB? I'm NOT asking for opinions of it's relevance in jazz so please don't be ugly or tell me how uncool they are. Im just trying to see if there are any recordings using one where the sound is comparable to a contra bass. Also, I'm not really looking for Latin jazz recordings I'm trying to hear one in the context of the "swing" feel. Thanks in advance for any help you guys could give!

The Gary Burton Quartet recording Passengers has Eberhard Weber as a guest on EUB (in addition the group's regular bassist Steve Swallow).

Anything live from David Friesen in the last twenty years. Made in Berlin with Uwe Kropinski and Three To Get Ready with Clark Terry, Bud Shank are two that come to mind. He's done a lot of records so there a probably a bunch more too.

To be honest I can't really think of any EUB recordings that sound like an acoustic double bass though. Both of the guys above have beautiful acoustic instruments too and having studied with Friesen I know he accepts the EUB on its own terms rather than trying to get it to emulate the big bass. He sees trying to get an acoustic sound from the EUB as impossible.

I played a Clevinger on Paul Wertico Trio "Live in Warsaw", not exactly straight ahead, but jazz none the less. I originally brought it for travel purposes, but Paul loved the sound and preferred it on all our gigs.

Lou is a fine player and have heard him live playing his EUB with a trio. I can't say I really enjoyed the sound...

Ah- studio recordings. Sorry- I listed a link to a live show of Bromberg.

Bromberg used the same EUB on a track called "When I look in your eyes" on the album "Choices". Although not straight-ahead, it is indeed a studio recording.

My 2 cents: bring in a Zoom or some other small recording device to a store that sells some EUBs and check it out in your own hands. However it might take longer than that to really get a feel for the instrument. I owned an EUB for about a year before I understood the nuances of its strengths and weaknesses.

wes, David Friesen gets some really great tones from his eub. the music is sometimes on the new age side, you might need to sift through a bit. it's well known that Friesen is a master on the acoustic DB though....so.... the album "Departure" with guitarist Uwe Kropenski had some good tones as i recall
