The main reason In shared this video ist the Trussrod, especially in really "curved" necks:
- the Trussrod is used to keep, HOLD the neck straight,
- but it is NOT A TOOL to straighten "very bad" necks, to really bend necks, don't try it only using the trusrod! Better clamp the neck on a straight plank, straighten it slowly and then use the truss rod to hold the neck straight as shown... Especially on older basses...
Yes to all of the above. Sometimes though, the neck is so badly curved that some heat is needed. Usually the worst necks are those where the truss rod was not engaged and over the years the strings pulling curves the neck.
