Strange bass...

What would you guys think about this bass?

http://www.masoportunidades.com.ar/aviso/4641319-bajo-electrico-de-luthier

it's for sale locally, only info is that it's made by a luthier. no other info available, the seller says he inherited it from an uncle but he's not a bass player.

personally, i think it looks ugly, but i've been looking for something cheap that i can turn into a fretless.
He's asking for something around $130 us dollars...

I've been trying to figure out from the pictures wether the tuners or bridge are worth it, and not sure what to think of the pickup (actually a picture looks like there might be no pickup)
what do you guys think? hard to find something cheaper around here.

Gee... I dunno. Bridge is fine, looks like a Schaller;

I suppose the tuners will be equally good and then it's just hoping that neck is worth it. That pup looks like nothing i've ever seen but that doesn't mean that much. :)

I think I would invest in a quality neck first, i'm sure you can get something of the bay for that kind of money. This neck good be a lot of work, funny headstock and all... However, it's not that much money.

Please share some pics if you do buy it!

ive met a couple of luthiers in Arg.
one in Cordoba and the other in Mendoza..
making great stuff! from what i hear!

ive always been big on not wasting my money that could go towards the instrument that i REALLY want..(IMHO)

There are a few great luthiers in argentina, but i've no idea who made this particular bass.

It will be a while for me to come up with the funds to get the fretless bass i really want, right now what i want is something more of a proyect bass i can fool around with and see wether i CAN play fretless at all.

Well, i'm wondering wether the parts alone might justify buying it. if it were a schaller bridge, and the pickup was worth anything...
I'm wondering wether it was made by a luthier at all, the paintjob doesn't seem any good to me, but i'm no expert.
I'll see wether I can try it out before buying.
