Strange noise from svt3pro

I have owned an svt 3 pro for about 16 years since it was new and it is doing something really weird. At any time when the amp is on, it will randomly go through this really loud, low to high frequency sweep. It sounds like if you were to take a frequency generator, hook it up to your amp and cab, and sweep the knob from about 50 Hz on up at full volume. It goes like, "BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPP!!!!" It takes about 5 seconds to go through this, and then the amp returns to normal after a "pop!"
I've been searching and haven't turned up a similar problem anywhere, even on other brands of amps.
Anyone have any idea what this is?

hmmm. Ive swapped tubes, swapped cabs, swapped basses. I've taken it in to a tech, who re-soldered some joints he thought were bad and called it good. Then I get it back home, happens again. I take back with a bass and a cabinet per his instruction and jammed for an hour on the damn thing while he sat there and wiggled **** around- guess what? it worked fine the whole time. I have other equipment but i want to use this for practice and I hate to just get rid of it. Maybe i will try some different tubes again...

I had a sort of similar problem with my SVT-7. Turns out it was simply because I set my amp up near my PC and practice pretty much exactly where I'm sitting now. I started to move away from the computer whilst practicing and viola! No more weird sweeping sound. I think my bass was just picking up the ambient hum of the electronics as well as the maybe signals from phones, wifi routers and other such things. Not sure, but since I stopped playing so close to all that stuff it's stopped happening!

It does the same thing in multiple settings. At a friend's house, same thing. My house, same. Band practice, same. Tried setting the amp separate from the cab on a foam cushion thinking vibrations maybe? still does it. It even will happen at low volumes.
