Strange tone problem...

Does that mean you removed it? Can you replace it? Pref with a known good one.

Yeah. I pulled it out of the loop. But, it didn't solve the problem. It still sounded thin and tinny.

My guess is the pole grounded to the case on the volume pot is loose or disconnected. look at post # 9 the loop of wire you see going between the cap and the arrow ( which represents ground ) on the volume pot has come loose or was never soldered right in the first place. It may not be a wire, just the pole bent and soldered to the case.

I checked all of that.

Well, I finally got it to my tech. He said that it's the pickup. He explained what's wrong but I really don't speak multimeter. Basically it has to be replaced. This is the second bass now that I've had a pickup go back in. The first was my Stingray 5. What are the odds?!
