Strap ergonomics for Spector bass

I have a Euro 4 LX, one bass I purchased earlier this year on a whim. Nice bass, don't get me wrong, but as a Music Man player, I've found that both the size of the body (more importantly lengthwise) and the position of the body strap button (offset towards the E-string, not on the exact butt end of the body) make playing this bass very different than, say, a Stingray 4. It rests against me such that reaching for the lowest 2 frets can sometimes be a challenge when playing standing up.

I don't mean "different" as a bad thing, but can any of you Spector owners provide any suggestions as to how to adjust strap length or positioning of the bass while standing?

Thanks, iacw
