Hate them. Usually requires a modest modification in some respect that compromises something. Better to just find a strap that fits tightly.
... a Grolsch beer bottle washer, it does the job keeping the strap in place. Best of all, it's only 25 cents at my local hardware store.
In what way do you think the instrument gets compromised?
... should consider playing triangle or just clapping their hands instead of playing bass.

People can screw anything up when using the wrong hardware or improper installation. I don't really think that is the fault of the straploksWell I guess you’re going to just say the person was stupid and should’ve just known what they were doing but the ones I’ve seen have pulled out, stripped out, scratched/ marred the paint or finish. Something usually needs to be modified in some way. Holes enlarged or filed. Different or wrong screws used. I’ve seen it just translate into problems down the road and I’ve fixed a bunch of screwups for people. I’m a machinist by trade. Most musicians aren’t.
