Streamliner 900. Blue LEDs dependable?

Had mine since they first came out - I believe that's over a year.
No LED problems.
Thanks. Gives me hope! Really have a jones for the 900.

I know it's just lights. All cosmetic. But it still affects value for any possible resale.

What I'm kinda starting to think is maybe a new unit is the way to go. At least I'd have a longer warrantee if the LEDs became a problem. And at times there are some pretty sharp deals on new units that bring them not too far from current prices of used ones.

My LED's have been out for some time. The amp works fine so I've been too lazy to search for the relevant info - I remember reading about the repair issue in another ST thread. If anyone can re-post that info here I'd be grateful. I also would probably be reluctant to ship my head to GB just to fix the lights - I gig it 3-4 nites/week.
There are a number of 900 threads. Some with a lot of pages. Do you remember if the thread you're talking about was an earlier one? Later one? I might try to sift through & find it.

well, they are just for the 'glam effect' anyway. ;)

Yes, you're right, of course. But I think just about everyone likes to see the purdy glow, otherwise GB wouldn't have fooled around with including them in the 1st place.

But because almost everyone does like the LEDs, anyone selling their used unit with malfunctioning lights is going to have to sell at a discount to units whose lights are working.

And while I don't think that the LEDs malfunction on a hugh % of units, it does seem to me that they malfunction on too many.

I've had my STR 900 for a while now, and it's been gigged multiple times a week for the last 8 months. I haven't had any problems with it or the LED's. It's been an awesome head for me.

If they ever do go out, I'm not sure that I would care enough to get them fixed. They are nifty looking, but everything on the face of the planet has blue LED's in it now, so it's pretty played out as far as I'm concerned. Stylistically, I would have preferred if the amp didn't have them...if I had the option for one over the other I probably would have opted without. We'll see what I do if it ever happens.

All nice stuff. The Streamliner can be a bit picky with cab pairing IMO. It sounds best to me (just like most all tube heads) with a tighter voiced cab with present mids (in my case, the Bergantino AE410).

IMO and just FYI.

Thats not just opinion, thats fact!

My blue LEDs going well, hopefully its a quick fix if it goes kaput!
