String Gauges on different basses

Im sure this has been asked but i was wondering what everybody's experience has been with going from a heavy gauge to a lighter gauge? Right now i am currently stringing up with ghs 105-45 and i feel the sound is a little to thick for chordal work but i am afraid i will miss the low end when playing with a band?

Coming from HEAVY strings (55-110) to medium (45-105) gauge, I think that lighter strings don't lose low end. They gain fundamental and lose a bit of the overtones. The heavy strings have less fundamental and more overtones and I didn't think that they necessarily had any more low end than the lighter strings.
