String Gauges

The first four are all a bit heavy for standard E-A-D-G-tuning. For the B-string, however, I'd go for 0.130, as the thinner one asks for a very light touch. If I were you, I'd download the tension chart from D'Addario's site and study it for a while. 50...110 won't hurt your bass, but maybe your fingers.

They're great if you want to work really hard at playing ;) I do know some folks who like those heavy strings, but not me. But if you like them, then yeah, that'll work.

No more work than his E string is to play - a .135 will have the same tension and playability as a .100 and a .140 will have the same tension and playability as a .105.

I've done the math . . . .

;)

I'm buying D'addario custom pro steels and am thinking about this order
.50, .70, .90, .110 and perhaps .125s or .130s
This sound about right?
What tunings will you be using?
A .125, .130 or even .135 will be very much looser than the .110E.
The closest Prosteel match in tension and playability for the .110 E is a .145 B, in fact the .145 B will still be slightly looser. You will be able to switch the .145 between B and drop A without flop or poor tone

It's not just the tension or feel. If you get above a .130 for a B string, you will start to get thumpy, no matter the construction, with a standard 34 or 35 inch scale.
