String Guage and Nut Question

Does anyone know what the OEM nut slot sizes are usually on Fender Jazz basses? I want to go with heavier strings, say, at least 50-105. But, I don't know how far I can go without having to get the slots widened. I have an '87 Jazz Bass Special and a 2001 American Jazz Bass.

It all depends on the guy wielding the file when the nut was being cut in. It may be just fine, but if it's a minor increase in size the string itself can be used to widen the slot.

4 string heavy sets with a 110 E are common so there's a good chance a 110 will fit.

Most mfg basses are with nut to accept 45-105 gauge. But I think most could also do 50 gauge G string ok. And maybe up to 110 E string.
