Use a string tension calculator like this one: Stringjoy Guitar String Tension Calculator. Start with your current gauge strings in EADG, assuming you like that tension and then drop the pitch a half step on the calculator. Go up until you return to about the desired string tension, it won't be exact. There's your gauges.

I use EB Power Slinky Bass strings 55-110 for DGCF. Works fine for me.

I recommend folks double checking their Nut in order to make sure the heavy gage strings fit prior to ordering them.

I’ve always used medium guage roundwounds for both standard tuning AND tuning down a half step. If things get a little ‘floppy’, you just loosen the truss rod (slightly) and/or raise the bridge saddles.

Well,, I suppose I’d figure by eye thing. You should be able to see how tightly your current gage strings sit in the nut and make a judgment from there.

I understand.
Ok. I’ll just go by experience and you (TB) can take my advice with a grain of salt.
The grooves in the nut on most standard basses won’t facilitate the top string on this particular set in reference (and possibly others) without opening it up a little. Now it’s your call.....

Any string that you would play in E tuning will work.
