Double Bass String Identity? Green silk pegbox, White with Red stripes tailpiece

Wondering what strings these are?

They are on a Seth Kimmel bass, ‘Grand Panormo’.

The last 3 years or so I have been tuning in 5ths.
After my last concert in a few weeks I may put 4ths strings on for this summer.
I have a lot of method books in 4ths tuning that have never been opened,
including all the Rabbath ones. So I’ll plug through them.

These strings sound impressive on a Kimmel bass. Contemplating a set for the summer.
Any comments on what they are and how they compare to BelCanto?

Just occurred to me these may be the same strings as on the Meinel bass that belonged to Robert Meyer.
I played that bass before it sold.

Look like Flexocor Deluxe to me, with that really wide white spiral over a red base.

Also my guess.
If the red was marroon like Flexocor '92s, they'd be Flat-Chromesteels.

They're definitely Flex Deluxes. I absolutely love them under the bow, and I have a FD G and D on my Seth Kimmel. They're not too shabby pizz, but wouldn't be my choice for it. I have briefly tried a set of Bel Cantos on my bass and I strongly preferred the Flex Deluxes. For me, they were easier to bow and had a little more brightness and clarity. I also find FDs little nicer under the left hand.

I really like the Flexocore Deluxe D and G strings. Really great tone and easy to bow once broken in. Sound very good in thumb position, whether it's Koussevitzky or Shostakovich 5. I use them with Permanent E/C and A on my bass and it's killer.

I have used that setup in the past, too. I came to prefer the Flex Deluxe A over the Permanent A, and gradually shifted to using the FD E/C on my Arvi - it just wears a full set of FDs and sounds great.

My Kimmel currently uses the FD for the G and D, but it has a Spiro Mittel A and E. The tone match between the Spiro A and the neighboring FD D string isn't perfect, but the A has this enormous power that is so attractive. I swear, that is the most powerful string I have ever played. It's a cannon. And, the tone mismatch is less clear in thumb position, so I don't worry about it being audible in melodic passages. Unfortunately, the A can be a bit weird on my bass (especially the open string), but with enough rosin and careful attention to bow angle and placement, I'm getting better at getting it started in full voice every time.

The Spiro E is also an excellent string. It's less powerful than the A but easier to control.

I just ordered a Flex Deluxe G and D.

Looking in my ‘string safari’ drawer I found 1 Flex E, 3 Flex A’s, 3 Flex D’s and one empty Flex G envelope.
So for this summer practise project used lower strings should be fine, with new uppers for the smile factor.

I have to laugh at myself though…
Recalling the silk colour from a 10 minute stint of playing Flexocor Deluxe strings on Meyer’s bass four months earlier proves bass stuff connects with me. Tell me today somebody’s name or a number or whatever I probably will not recall it months later. But bass stuff? You bet.
