String Recommendations for Antiquity II (Precision)?

I’m working on a precision bass project, and I decided to go with Antiquity II pups for a little more vintage sound.

The bass has a maple neck, and currently has an old set of Nickel EB slinkies.

Sounds good, but I’m hoping to get a little more “grit” with the tone control rolled off.

I stayed away from other pickups, such as quarter pounders and dimarzios ‘cause I didn’t want too much grit, but now I’d like to have a little more than what I have now with this setup (when will I ever be happy… :rollno: )

I suppose flats are out of the question, but what strings would you recommend to have a nice warm vintage sound with tone control turned, but some grit (not extreme) with tone rolled off?

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm mainly a flats guy, but on my Precision Elite I have some DR Lo-Riders and they sound good. The set I have are stainless steel, but you might prefer the nickel set which are a little more mellow. They're good strings and last a long time.
