String Scuff

I was being lazy restringing and my 'E' made a mark on the finish just below the bridge where the ball end sits as I fed the string through.

Just a scuff and not scratched as such but I'd like to go back in time or put invisible scuff remover on it.
I know things get bumped sooner or later but are there techniques to smooth out a scuff that don't involve an expert?

I've got some bad scratches going on around my bridge from the same thing. I restring my basses like every other day, I gave up on trying to keep it clean.

My black Jazz has them...I call it Mojo..... Well, that and being careless with Rotosounds....I'm more careful now but it really doesn't bug me too much. I suppose with poly a fella could just get some polishing compound and buff em right out..

Stick a business card on the body against the back of the bridge and it won't happen.

Try using blue painters tape on the body. That's what I do, and no scratches.

Or just use duct tape, and if you don't want your bass ever to get scratched cover the entire thing it duct tape and leave it on wherever you go. I find it adds some warmness to the tone to...
