String wrap opinion

I don't cut strings, so however many wraps it takes to wind all the slack.

I did this for most of my life—never clipped my strings—and then I found out that having the string wrap around itself on the post leads to slippage, which leads to tuning problems. I now clip my strings so there's no overlap, and they stay in tune pretty perfectly all the time. This was an important discovery for me, and I'm surprised it's not mentioned more widely. It seems most people who clip their strings do it so there's less work to do when tuning, which I never cared about, but it turns out to have that other advantage as well.

it just doesn't matter, unless it matters on your bass for a particular reason. if the instrument will hold tuning = it doesn't matter. breaking angle is important on some instruments and not (or not so much) on others. my experience.

For what it's worth, this is a new 2016 MIM Jbass with factory strings on it. I would say Killed By Death's method is very close to what it says in the manual.
