Strings advice: best core for weak magnetic field

Hello,
I have a problem with my Fender Coronado hollow body and the luthier thinks that changing the type of strings might help.
I've used Fender flatwounds and I like the feel and the sound on the E and A strings but once you get quite high, the sound is more like a wood block than a bass. I used to use black plastic covered ones but they were much the same.
The luthier is checking whether the pickup posts are demagnetised but he suggests that some strings with a thicker ferrous core might help.
So my question: can anybody recommend some flatwound strings that have cores that can get a better response from weak magnetic fields?
Thanks!
