Strings are Very Important

Also, the packaging looked like it was sitting on a back shelf for 10 years . . . hmmmm?

Did the package show signs of resealing? If so, maybe the B and E were taken out and sold by the "secondary supplier" and then replaced with the wrong size.

A "secondary supplier" sounds to me like maybe a retailer, which LaBella might have used to expedite getting you the strings - as opposed to making you wait until they manufactured another set.

If you READ the post, there in the second sentence it says 35" scale. All strings are strung equi-distant thru the body, yes.

IF the set was intended for a 34" scale, then the first string (and maybe the second string and almost certainly the 5th string) would have the winding all the way into the tuning machine!!

Does this need more explaining?

Wow you sound like a total dick. Personally I hope they leave you sitting high and dry if you were as vociferous in the email as you've been in this thread.

Saddle adjustment will not change the length of the string between the anchor points. If they deviate its because they don't line up.

Saddle positions for intonation raise the strings at different points, this moves the silks on the tuner end, slightly. My silks are slightly uneven in exactly the same way as my saddle positions for intonation; with the G string the furthest forward toward the headstock, for both saddle and turner end silk.

What you are talking about would be a very, very small difference from string to string. Slightly less than 1/16" between the G and E string silks if all else was even.

It wouldn't explain differences like these

There's really no way to predict or engineer for those distance differences is there? The manufacturers have no way to determine with the headstock will be in line, two or three or whatever per side, offset like an MM or the above pictured Lakland, or reversed, which would make for a longer top string. I have no idea how they standardize on what they are, but by the same token, I don't notice a huge difference whether silky or silkless. I've got both styles on different basses and in the end it doesn't seem to matter.

All this thread has done is convince me to never buy LaBella strings (not that I'd ever pay that much for strings anyway). Somehow it's the OP's fault that LaBella made a mistake with the order? All of you are wayyyyy overreacting, and it's really looking like LaBella is the Apple of bass strings....

Talk about wayyyyy overreacting. You're eternally boycotting a certain brand of strings because of comments in a thread? I've never bought LaBella strings, to the best of my recollection, but that's just because I've been happy with other strings.

Most of the negative responses to the original poster are not primarily to his original post, in and of itself. I personally wouldn't post what he did without first seeing if LaBella could address the issue, but I see how he might have thought it profitable to others. The real problem came when the guy exploded and attacked the intelligence of fellow bassists who were only trying to help him. Just a little "I'm sorry" would go a long way in this case.

Bassed (see what I did there?) on one set of strings out of how many hundreds of thousands made in their history?
I have had my share problems with LaBella strings including the same problem as the OP.
I just didn't start threads about them.
Their CS is nice enough on the phone but it was a nightmare trying to elevate the problems. I finely gave up and threw $90+ worth of strings in the trash.
