Strings for a 12-string Bass........

I went to my local shoppe and ordered a custom set of DR Strings like I always do. lol.

My Dean Rhaspody 12 is in Standard w/ an octave and +3 semitones, from:
G#1
B1
G#0

That's strung with DR Neons with a mix of "bass" and "guitar". Just weld the strings for extra length. lol

I've got a Hägstrom H8 with a similar situation of DR DDTs and Legends for the octaves. Standard.

to be fair, the rest of the band hated it! 🤣
…[snip]…
I bought two sets of Rotosound's 8 string set, which left me with a spare 45 - 105 set for my regular bass.

I feel your pain: I was in a band a few years ago that I thought was perfect for my eight string bass, so I kept bringing it to rehearsals and gigs and using it and finally after about six months, the guitar player said “Please!Stop!”

I used to buy a set of Ernie Ball 12-string Slinkies because I could use half the set to string up one guitar in Nashville tuning and the other half for a different guitar in normal tuning. Two sets for the price of one!

I used the Dean Rhapsody 12 for drop D sets in cover band and bandmates approved and liked it. The Dean's pickups' high mids/highs were dull.... so it didn't clash too much with the guitar. Guitarist never complained. This band only had one guitarist... so the 12 filled a lot of sonic space. Sounded good.

Found an old pic of the Dean Rhapsody 12 I owned from '03-'11...........

Found a light gauge, stainless steel option for 12-string bass at SIT's website..........

These are lighter gauge than the D'Addario 12's on Amazon. Same price at $40. Crazy that these strings are cheaper than Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats.
