Double Bass Strings for EUB? Obligato? Belcanto? Other?

I have an EUB I use mostly for practice when I travel on business. However, this summer I might be forced to use the EUB at a summer music camp. I'd like to make it sound more like my regular bass. Currently it sounds too "electric" in both decay and growl.

Currently it is strung with Spirocores (it came with these). I'm thinking of using Priastro Obligatos or Thomastic Belcantos instead. If it bowed better, that would be nice, but my primary concern is pizz like a regular bass. Any other strings I should consider to tamp this EUB down?

My EUB is a BSX Allegro (hollow core). I know most people here prefer the Eminence (also hollow core). String experience with either of these hollow core EUBs, or any other EUB would be most appreciated.

I have an Eminence and have had decent results with Spiro Weichs, Obligatos, and Helicore Hybrids. It originally came strung with guts, which I felt worked really well for an organic sounding pizz, but didn't really suit my arco needs.

Of course, your results with the Allegro could be completely different..

Flexocors, Permanents, Helicore Orchestrals.
Maybe even Corellis.

When you had Obligatos on your Eminence, did you take the neck off often? I'm afraid the Obligatos might break from taking the string on and off multiple times. Did you have that problem?

(I had that problem with the Obligato E on my regular bass, swapping it out for a C string about 5 times. The string broke at the bridge.)

I would consider the Corelli's or, for about twice as much, the Belcanto's. My next set of strings for my Juzek is going to be the Belcantos, and I will move my Corelli's over to the Allegro.

I also would not assume that most of us on Talkbass prefer the Eminence The BSX Allegro A4 is a fantastic bass. I initially really liked Obligatos, but they seemed to have a pretty short life.
