Strings for Fender American Vintage II '66 Jazz

I've bought an Fender American Vintage II '66 JAZZ and I'm waiting on big brown. I want to replace the 7250's with something else. I'm looking for a round without zingyness. Music is classic rock. I was looking at TI IN344. My hands don't sweat and strings last a long time for me,

I think all rounds bring at least some zing when new. Break them in and then you’re golden. Use the tone knob to tame them until they’re broken in. IME Boomers and Slinkys go from new to broken in fairly quickly. I also think well broken in Rotos (Swing Bass 66) sound fantastic on a P. Just live with the zing until it goes away. And then never change your strings again

Personally, I’ve been happy with Pure Blues, Hi Beams, Lo Riders, and Dunlop Super Bright Nickels. I agree with the above about turning down the tone when strings are new. That can help with zing.

GHS Boomers should get you what you want. Ernie Ball Slinky’s would also be a good option.

I like d'addario exl170 on my jazz. They last a long time. DR strings never lasted long for me.

I have rs66 swiing bass roto strings on an active 5. They sound great but will have a high side until broken in, more.

Full Agreed. I also suggest using a different amp EQ as well. If that fails , try beating them into submission knocking their zingy-ness into next Tuesday so to speak.

For rounds I like DR black beauties. Not as zingy new compared to rotos, and they seem to last longer. I have them on a jazz and a Ric.

My favorites on a Jazz are DR FatBeams; IME/IMO they sound great for fingerstyle but then when you slap they have what I view as the definitive 'jazz slap' tone. If you want less zing and a bit more warmth, DR Sunbeams.

I recommend DR Sunbeams. They have a bit of zing when they are new, but they soon mellow to a nice round tone and they last a long time. Plus, they have a nice feel as well (IMO).

My choices for non-zingy rounds...

GHS Balanced Nickels (pure nickel on a round core).
GHS Round Core Boomers (nickel-plated steel on a round core).
DR Nickel Lo-Riders (nickel-plated steel on a hex core).

I’ve got these strings and love them. Great feel and sound and have lasted a long time.
