Strings for Heavy Metal

I am having issues being able to find any of the above strings that have a .135 B on ebay or any website that will send to Melbourne, Australia.

String in Oz are soooo damn expensive - bloody Government!

D'Addario prosteels, they come with a low b 135, i use them with my 6 string they sound awesome

i find that when I have smaller gauge strings makes it easier to play fast riffs. Which is needed in metal. And its just easier to play.

I agree with that, but I think thicker strings have a much better sound...and since people listen to music, it only makes sense to use what sounds best.

I like my EB Power Slinky. Heavy gauge but my style of metal is pretty slow and downtuned. Prolly wouldnt be good for fast stuff.

Depleted uranium... Definitely. You want heavy metal, there's not much heavier.



Seriously, all-stainless will give you a solid fundamental with the Tool-like overtones and bright attack. I recommend either Dean Markley Blue Steels or D'Addario ProSteels. Both are on the more expensive side but last a very long time and give you a super-brilliant sound so you have definition when laying down a groove without the guitars, and the fundamental to be heard through thick distortion.

Have you tried speaking to the guys at the bass centre in melbourne? They are usually really helpful.

if not Bass people in sydney has a huge range of strings as well.

there's only one thing to. Trial and error. I Guarantee that in 2 years youll find your string.
I know i HAVEN'T. lol i dont buy strings much. I need the 50 for other things. But i am going to get some later today.

Y'know, I've never found strings to be particularly conducive to any one specific genre of music. Metal tone, I have found, is in the pickups, the amp and the hands; maybe effects, if that's your thing (it is for me). That said, I use DR Hi-Beams - the 6-string set (they only make one).

D' Addario Pro Steels, Amazing strings, very metallic and "proud" sounding (if you will) just awesome.

I use them on my 7 string & 4 string bass. I refuse to try anything else anymore. They are perfect.

Rotos are great. Swing Bass 66LD they are 45-130. They bite and have great tension. They can and do chew up frets/fingers but sound great in my opinion.

i dig rotosounds. they sound reallll good to me.
