strings for ibanez sr500

My boyfriend recently bought this bass guitar and I want to buy him some strings for it. I have zero concept of gauges and ideally could use links to suitable strings. I know for previous bass' he's bought di addarios and he plays mostly rock and metal music. Any help given would be massively appreciated. Thanks

They come stock with Elixir Nano's (45-65-85-105 gauge), but sound best with nickel or SS rounds. Try some D'Addario XLS165 (nickel rounds); they sound good, and are inexpensive. I have D'Add Prosteels on all 5 of my Ibby SR's.
