Strings for sub short-scale basses (shorter than 30")

I've been working on a side project over at the Squire Mini P thread and thought I'd share the info here in the Strings Forum for anyone who may be searching the topic.

As multiple manufactures are now offering super short scale basses that are sub-30", one of the challenges has been finding strings that do not require the wound portion of the string to be wrapped around the string post. While some brands offer custom strings to address this problem (with a wait time and a steep price involved), I wanted to see if we could get an off-the-shelf product to address the needs of the TB community and these fun shortie basses.

In short, the folks at LaBella recently purchased a Squire Mini and have, for the benefit of mini bass fans everywhere, developed a few sets of customs strings for ultra-short scale basses.

They recently made some 760FMs and 760FS wound at 31" and are in the process of testing them. Once the sets are finalized, they will be made available via the LaBella site at Link Removed (if you're not familiar with the Roadie Club, this is where LaBella offers special runs or limited product sets - they offer variations on their tape wound bass strings there, although I've yet to grab a set, as they tend to go quickly).

While I'm no expert (and don't own any of the other super-short scale basses) my understanding is that the design of these strings should make them usable for some of the other short scale basses, like the Ibanez model and others. Hope you find this helpful - I'll post an update when I get new information to share.
