Two knobs for each pickup and two switches: presuming the switches are on/off for each pickup, this is the way wiring should be. Dealing with original stock Hofner wiring is a nightmare!

Yep. Volume and Tone knobs and an on and off switch for each pickup where “on” means on and “off” means off. Truly a “keep it simple stupid” concept. I have 3 Hofners and I’m confused by their control panel every time I pick one up.

Yeah, think I’m going to take it to my local luthier and let him have a go at it. Needs a truss rod adjustment too I think as the action at the 12th fret upwards is much too high.

The truss rod is not for adjusting the action at the 12th fret. It's for setting the neck relief. The bridge sets the string height at the 12th fret. Get the relief right first, then adjust the bridge for suitable string height.

Thanks. Bridge is low as it will go so yes, have to get the relief right first. Glad I have a luthier just a mile away.
